DNA Comparative Analysis DNA Comparative Analysis

Improved understanding of the biological mechanisms Nucleotyping describes, and developing improved prognostic markers, are the main goals in this project.

Nearly 200 ovarian carcinomas have been characterized by karyotyping, CGH and microsatellite instability in Professor Sverre Heim’s group. We will analyse the same material using DNA ploidy and Nucleotyping. Karyotyping, CGH and DNA ploidy are well established methods which describe different aspects of DNA organization. Having results from various established methods provides unique opportunities to improve the understanding of which biological mechanisms the texture features in Nucleotyping actually describe. We will develop a framework where the results from the different methods can be compared in a proper way and used together in more powerful prognostic markers.
